Check out The Bathroom Tile Collection and tell me which square you like best!
So, every now and again somebody takes the "Advanced Critique Encouraged" tag seriously and actually has a pop at it!!!
What is one to do when this happens? If you're like me you've probably had your work gathering dust on your hard drive for months if not years before taking the plunge and uploading it... and you are probably pretty happy with it for what it is.
Seriously though I don't mind criticism.
The critic in question is the devient seeahneedah who recently commented on my retro, purist, single layer zoom Another Square. seeahneedah felt the outside structures were great (positive start) but that the inside got too cluttered. He then suggested a way to improve this via a sort of layered approach.
seeahneedah may have realized that this was an exercise in extreme fractal purism for me and just be teasing me or he might genuinely feel that the image does need improvement. So I set about seeing what I could achieve without sacrificing my purist intentions.
The great thing about the Mandelbrot set is it is not strictly self similar so by taking slightly different routes through the set you can come up with the same structure in different contexts. For a great introduction on how to choose your route through the ever tinier details of the set, check out FractalMonster's pdf tutorial.
So in my scraps is The Bathroom Tile Collection, a grid of nine images that bare a striking resemblance to Another Square. Those with sharp eyes will notice the center one is the original and the others are all slightly different. Let me know which you like best in the comments.
Sadly, seeahneedah won't be able to share his opinions on the new variations as he has been banned for his rather harsher criticism of another deviants work. I guess I got off lightly .
Edit: Lots of people said they liked the piece as a whole so I have moved it into the main gallery...

Parameter Controversy and Jealousy in Fractal Art
An open letter to ultraartist (https://www.deviantart.com/ultraartist) Mark Fisher and anyone else who has the params he distributed:
It's a while since I've been producing anything fractal related or been active on deviant art.
However I am aware of the latest chapter in the stolen parameter file saga and am aware that some of my parameters are amongst those recently distributed by ultraartist (https://www.deviantart.com/ultraartist) Mark Fisher.
For those who need filling in, the saga started about a year ago when a deviant by the name of debora321 (https://www.deviantart.com/debora321) sent around a piece of software claiming it would speed up ultrafractal. A lot of trusting people ran the software only to find out that all it did was send
A new Daily Deviation for me!

Quick Update
Happy new year everyone!
Keeping an eye on DA but haven't updated my gallery in a while... This is partially due to a busy last six months at home and partially because my interests are focused elsewhere at the moment. Hopefully my duel interests will merge at some point soon and I will have something to show for it.
Until then thanks to everyone who takes an interest in my stuff!
